{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-117.225","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 117.225","heading":"When proof of voter's identification is required -- Voter's signature -- Use","body":"of original registration forms to compare signature -- Voting supplemental\npaper ballot.\n(1) Any person desiring to vote on election day shall give his or her na me and address\nto the clerk of the election and shall provide proof of identification as defined in\nKRS 117.001.\n(2) A voter who votes in person at a precinct polling place that is located at a state -\nlicensed care facility where the voter resides is not re quired to provide proof of\nidentification, as defined in KRS 117.001, before voting in a primary or an election.\n(3) If the voter's name is listed on the precinct list furnished by the State Board of\nElections as provided in KRS 117.025, the voter provides  proof of identification,\nthe voter is exempt pursuant to subsection (2) of this section, or the voter otherwise\nsatisfies the requirements of KRS 117.228, and if no challenge is made, then he or\nshe shall sign his or her name on the precinct list in the s pace opposite his or her\nprinted name. The voter's signature shall constitute the voter's verification that the\nvoter is a properly registered and qualified voter. The voter shall then retire alone to\ncast his or her vote on the ballot provided. The county  board of elections may\nprovide to each precinct the original registration form of each voter entitled to vote\nin that precinct. These forms shall be used to compare signatures in those precincts\nto which the forms are provided.\n(4) If supplemental paper b allots are used, as provided in KRS 118.215, after voting\nusing the voting equipment, the voter shall take the supplemental paper ballot with\nthe stub intact and retire alone to the voting booth provided for voting paper ballots.\nAfter voting the supplemen tal paper ballot, the voter shall remove the numbered\nstub, hand the stub to an election officer and deposit the voted supplemental paper\nballot in the locked supplemental paper ballot box in the presence of a precinct\nelection officer.","path":["KRS Chapter 117"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=51666","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:50:12Z","sha256":"043a1d8f42f3dbb54d1b8f2cef4b2fd390717db080ad34ad78aebecdae479e09","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-117.220","next":"us-ky/krs-117.227"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
