{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-118.375","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 118.375","heading":"Independent, political organization, or political group candidates filing to","body":"fill vacancy -- Ineligibility of Senior Status Special Judge.\n(1) If a vacancy occurs in any elective office less than one hundred sixty (160) days\nbefore the primary or at any time before the time prescribed in KRS 118.365 for\nfiling petitions of nomination, independent, or political organization, or political\ngroup candidates may file their petitions at the time and place provided in KRS\n118.365, subject to the restri ctions concerning party registration and candidacy\nprovided in KRS 118.315(1).\n(2) If a vacancy occurs in any elective office after the time prescribed in KRS 118.365\nfor filing petitions of nomination, but not less than three (3) months before the\nregular election, independent, or political organization, or political group candidates\nmay file their petitions not later than the second Tuesday in August preceding the\nregular election for the office sought, subject to the restrictions concerning party\nregistration and candidacy provided in KRS 118.315(1).\n(3) A judge who elected to retire as a Senior Status Special Judge in accordance with\nKRS 21.580 shall not become a candidate or a nominee for any elected office\nduring the five (5) year term prescribed in KR S 21.580(1)(a)1., regardless of the\nnumber of days served by the judge acting as a Senior Status Special Judge.","path":["KRS Chapter 118"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=49482","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:50:15Z","sha256":"30b5cdb8446243c92cb92a00c8ba00a3cfc054c023a31ac95b2ae14c0f1f0c12","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-118.370","next":"us-ky/krs-118.380"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
