{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-118.555","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 118.555","heading":"Methods by which to determine a political party's delegate votes for","body":"presidential candidates.\n(1) The state executive committee of each political party shall, pursuant to its party's\nrules, determine whether to distribute its party's authorized delega te votes for\npresidential candidates at its party's national convention based on the results of a\nparty caucus, a presidential preference primary, or a combination of the two (2)\nmethods. Each state executive committee shall notify the State Board of Elect ions\nof its decision not later than the December 31 preceding the day for conducting a\npresidential preference primary as set by KRS 118.561.\n(2) If a state executive committee determines that its party's authorized delegate votes\nfor presidential candidat es at its party's national convention shall be distributed\nbased on the results of a party caucus, a presidential preference primary shall not be\nconducted for that political party, and the provisions of KRS 118.561 to 118.651\nshall not apply. The distribu tion of delegates among the presidential candidates\nshall be determined by party rule.\n(3) If a state executive committee determines that its party's authorized delegate votes\nfor presidential candidates at its party's national convention shall be distribu ted\nbased on the results of both a party caucus and a presidential preference primary, the\nformula for distribution of authorized delegate votes based on the results of a party\ncaucus shall be determined by party rule. The distribution of delegates based o n the\nresults of a presidential preference primary shall be in accordance with the\nprovisions of KRS 118.641(1). Regardless of the method by which the authorized\ndelegate votes are distributed, the casting of votes on the first ballot at each party's\nnational convention shall be in accordance with the provisions of KRS 118.641(2).","path":["KRS Chapter 118"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=27656","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:50:16Z","sha256":"1eb18c3e32d1ba951f51a3c2d50d91ed2fd029e5b60d64aa119b9c05bc5a8859","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-118.551","next":"us-ky/krs-118.560"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
