{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-118.601","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 118.601","heading":"Notification of nominees by Secretary of State -- Order of names on ballot -","body":"- Certification of candidates.\n(1) The Secretary of State shall contact each person who has been nominated by\npetition, or who has been nominated pursuant to KRS 118.59 1(5) and (6), and\nnotify him or her in writing by certified mail, with return receipt requested, that his\nor her name will appear as a candidate on the Kentucky presidential primary ballot\nof his or her party.\n(2) The order in which the names of candidates for a presidential preference primary are\nto be printed on the ballot shall be determined by lot at a public drawing in the\noffice of the Secretary of State at 2 p.m., standard time, on the Thursday following\nthe filing deadline for the presidential prefe rence primary as established in KRS\n118.591.\n(3) Not later than the date set forth in KRS 118.215(1)(a) preceding the presidential\npreference primary, and after the order of the names has been determined as\nprovided by subsection (2) of this section, the Secretary of State shall certify to each\ncounty clerk the name, place of residence, and party of each candidate, as specified\nin the notice of candidacy forms or petitions filed with the Secretary of State and\nshall designate the device with which the candi dates of each party shall be printed,\nin the order in which they are to appear on the ballot, with precedence to be given to\nthe party that polled the highest number of votes at the preceding election for\npresidential electors, followed by the political pa rty which received the second\nhighest number of votes.","path":["KRS Chapter 118"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=49479","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:50:16Z","sha256":"941cb05c14317bd5ae04d4a7598bc93194c5612da81debe0a782eadf6ec860e1","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-118.600","next":"us-ky/krs-118.610"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
