{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-118.641","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 118.641","heading":"Distribution of authorized delegate vote among party candidates.","body":"(1) The political parties in distributing authorized delegate votes among party\ncandidates shall select one (1) of the following methods of distribution:\n(a) The candidates receivin g the highest number of votes, provided each\ncandidate receives at least fifteen percent (15%) of the total vote cast by his or\nher political party, shall be awarded a pro rata portion of the authorized\ndelegate vote of his or her political party as follows:\n1. The total vote received by the candidates qualifying under the provisions\nof KRS 118.555 to 118.651 and subsections herein shall, when\ncombined, be equal to one hundred percent (100%);\n2. Each such candidate shall share in the total percentage in dir ect\nproportion to the total vote received by him or her mathematically\ndetermined to be the percentage of the aggregate vote which represents\none hundred percent (100%);\n3. Each political party shall appropriate such percentage, as is determined\nby this se ction, to the total number of delegate votes as are allotted by\nthe national committee of each party; or\n(b) The candidate receiving the highest number of votes cast by his or her\npolitical party shall be awarded a pro rata portion of the authorized delega te\nvote of his or her political party in compliance with the state party rules for\nthat party.\n(2) Each political party shall, on the first ballot at its national convention, cast this\nCommonwealth's vote for the candidates as determined by the primary or party\ncaucus and calculated under this section or under party rules, whichever is\napplicable. Provided, however, that in the event of the death or withdrawal of a\ncandidate receiving votes under this section prior to the tabulation of the first ballot,\nany delegate votes allocated to such candidate shall be considered uncommitted.\nWithdrawal shall mean notice in writing by the candidate to the chairperson of the\nKentucky delegation prior to the first ballot.","path":["KRS Chapter 118"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=57009","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:50:16Z","sha256":"9b193c2729a5a6e0bb725d07fae3a82c61f8fe96051f8daa3b465f251da1e000","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-118.640","next":"us-ky/krs-118.650"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
