{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-119.115","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 119.115","heading":"Unauthorized possession of key to voting machine, equipment, or system --","body":"Tampering with, injuring, or destroying ballot, e -poll book, administration\ninformation system, machine, equipment, or system.\n(1) Any unauthorized person found in poss ession of any key to a voting machine,\nvoting equipment, or voting system to be used or being used in any primary, regular\nelection, or special election shall be guilty of a Class A misdemeanor.\n(2) Any person who, during or before any primary, regular ele ction, or special election,\nwillfully tampers with or attempts to tamper with, disarrange, deface, impair in any\nmanner whatsoever, injures, or destroys any ballot, e -poll book, election\nadministration information system, voting machine, voting equipment, or voting\nsystem while in use at an election or at any other time, or who shall, after such\nvoting machine, voting equipment, or voting system is locked and sealed in order to\npreserve the record of the vote, tamper with or attempt to tamper with the recor d of\nthe vote, or who aids or abets with intent to destroy or change the record of the vote\nshall be guilty of a Class D felony.\n(3) Any election official, or other person entrusted with the custody or control of any\nvoting machine, voting equipment, or vo ting system shall be guilty of a Class D\nfelony if he or she knowingly and intentionally:\n(a) Causes or permits any voting machine, voting equipment, or voting system to\nfail to correctly register or count votes cast, tampers with or disarranges such\nvoting machine, voting equipment, or voting system in any way;\n(b) Unlawfully opens a voting machine, voting equipment, or voting system;\n(c) Prevents or attempts to prevent the correct operation of a voting machine,\nvoting equipment, or voting system;\n(d) Causes a voting machine, voting equipment, or voting system to be used or\nconsents to its being used for any election with knowledge of the fact that the\nvoting machine, voting equipment, or voting system is not in order, or not\nperfectly set and adjusted to correctly register all votes cast;\n(e) Removes, changes, or mutilates any ballot; or\n(f) Directly connects or attempts to directly connect a voting machine, voting\nequipment, or voting system that tabulates or aggregates votes to a public\nnetwork, including the internet, at any time.","path":["KRS Chapter 119"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=54659","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:50:17Z","sha256":"1c402e8076049858054439d3da8863ec2d15bc886ff089070216788c380b4cc5","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-119.110","next":"us-ky/krs-119.120"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
