{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-121.005","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 121.005","heading":"Legislative findings on electronic storage and retrieval of campaign","body":"finance information.\n(1) The General Assembly finds and declares that:\n(a) The intent of disclosure of campaign finance information is to make that\ninformation about political  contributions and expenditures accessible to the\npublic;\n(b) The volume of campaign finance reports submitted each year to the state\nrenders it virtually impossible, without the help of computer technology, to\nderive meaningful conclusions from the records; and\n(c) Computer automation is a necessary and effective means of transmitting,\norganizing, storing, and retrieving vast amounts of data submitted by\ncandidates in election campaigns.\n(2) The General Assembly enacts this legislation to accomplish the following:\n(a) To improve the existing system of electronic reporting and extend its usage to\nmore candidates;\n(b) To allow concerned persons easy, convenient, and timely access to campaign\nfinance reports submitted to the state;\n(c) To ease the burden on ca ndidates and committees of tabulating, filing, and\nmaintaining public records of financial activity;\n(d) To strengthen both the disclosure and enforcement capabilities of the Registry\nof Election Finance;\n(e) To cooperate in the standardization of reportin g formats among states so that\ninterstate as well as intrastate sources of political money can be known;\n(f) To provide for a fully informed electorate; and\n(g) To help restore public trust in the governmental and electoral institutions of\nthis state.","path":["KRS Chapter 121"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=48574","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:50:18Z","sha256":"5b293e7a979bf240d76695ecd3a4239c57f0e79c6a481b7449de169f0ae4f303","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-120.360","next":"us-ky/krs-121.010"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
