{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-121.056","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 121.056","heading":"Restrictions upon specified campaign contributors.","body":"(1) No person who contributes more than the maximum legal contribution established\nby KRS 121.150 in any one (1) election to a slate of candidates for Governor and\nLieutenant Governor that is elected to office shall hold any appointive state office or\nposition, which shall be made by gubernatorial appointment, during the term of\noffice following the campaign in which the contribution shall be made.\n(2) No person who has contributed more than the maximum legal contribution\nestablished by KRS 121.150 in any one ( 1) election to a slate of candidates for\nGovernor and Lieutenant Governor that is elected to office or any entity in which\nsuch a person has a substantial interest shall have any contract with the\nCommonwealth of Kentucky during the term of office followin g the campaign in\nwhich the contributions shall be made unless the contract shall be attained by\ncompetitive bidding and the person or entity shall have the lowest and best bid.\n(a) \"Substantial interest\" means the person making the contribution owns or\ncontrols ten percent (10%) or more of an entity or a member of the person's\nimmediate family owns or controls ten percent (10%) of the entity or the\nperson and his immediate family together own or control ten percent (10%) or\nmore of the entity.\n(b) \"Immediate family\" means the spouse of the person, the parent of the person\nor spouse, or the child of the person or spouse.\n(3) No person shall give or conspire to contribute money or property to any other\nperson for the purpose of making a campaign contribution,  in violation of this\nsection. The restrictions established by subsections (1) and (2) of this section to a\nperson who shall contribute in excess of the maximum legal contribution\nestablished by KRS 121.150 in any one (1) election as provided by those\nsubsections, shall apply to a person who makes a total contribution in excess of the\nmaximum legal contribution established by KRS 121.150 in any one (1) election to\na slate of candidates for Governor and Lieutenant Governor that is elected to office\nas provided by this subsection.","path":["KRS Chapter 121"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=27855","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:50:18Z","sha256":"5c2b96493a1c29edf420710cb4bcd2107f6b0f5731366e0e124c01f322742ce8","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-121.055","next":"us-ky/krs-121.060"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
