{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-134.140","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 134.140","heading":"Investment of tax revenues until time of distribution -- Disposition of","body":"investment earnings.\n(1) The sheriff may invest any tax revenues held in his or her possession from the time\nof collection until the time of distribution to the proper taxing auth orities.\nInvestments by the sheriff shall be restricted to those permitted by KRS 66.480.\n(2) As part of the monthly distribution of taxes to a district board of education as\nrequired by KRS 134.191, the sheriff shall pay to the board of education that par t of\nthe investment earnings for the month which are attributable to the investment of\nschool taxes, less an amount not to exceed four percent (4%) of the earned monthly\ninvestment income to reimburse the sheriff for the costs of administering the\ninvestment.\n(3) In counties where the sheriff pays fees and commissions collected to the county and\nthe salaries and expenses of the sheriff's office are paid by the county, the sheriff\nshall pay to the county treasurer the investment earnings, other than those pa id to\nthe board of education in compliance with subsection (2) of this section, at the time\nof his or her monthly distribution of taxes to the county required by KRS 134.191.\n(4) In those counties where the office of sheriff is funded in whole or in part b y fees\nand commissions, the sheriff may use investment earnings, other than those which\nmust be paid to the board of education in compliance with subsection (2) of this\nsection, to pay lawful expenses of his or her office.","path":["KRS Chapter 134"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=28389","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:50:25Z","sha256":"aece6a476d9fc32a1d229adeb2776832faf4900531a0f2816e204b1c9f14bf90","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-134.131","next":"us-ky/krs-134.145"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
