{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-136.340","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 136.340","heading":"Tax on amounts paid to stock insurance companies, other than life.","body":"(1) Every stock insurance company, other than life, doing business in this state shall, on\nor before the first day of March of each year, return to the Department of Revenue a\nstatement under oath of all amounts paid to the company or its representative,\nwhether designated as premiums or otherwise, for insurance or services incident\nthereto, on property or risks in this state during the preceding calendar year or since\nthe last returns were made, including amounts received for reinsurance on Kentucky\nrisks from  unauthorized companies, and shall at the same time pay a tax of two\ndollars ($2) upon each one hundred dollars ($100) of such amounts paid to the\ncompany, less amounts returned on canceled policies and policies not taken.\n(2) The health insurance contract or contracts for state employees as authorized by KRS\n18A.225 shall not be subject to taxation under this section.","path":["KRS Chapter 136"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=28552","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:50:27Z","sha256":"318c1ef6fcbea4ee887494405951b4ac811da9cbc492ca654c335ad8492be998","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-136.335","next":"us-ky/krs-136.350"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
