{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-139.240","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 139.240","heading":"Application for retailer's or seller's permit to do business.","body":"(1) Every person presently engaged or desiring to engage in or conduct business as a\nretailer or seller within this state shall file with the department an application for a\npermit for each place of business.\n(2) Every application for a permit shall:\n(a) Be made upon a form prescribed by the department;\n(b) Set forth the name under which the applicant transacts or intends to transact\nbusiness and the location of the place or places of business; and\n(c) Set forth other information as the department may require.\n(3) The application shall be signed by:\n(a) The owner, if he or she is a natural person;\n(b) A member or partner, if the entity is an association, limited liability company,\nlimited liability partnership, or partnership;\n(c) An executive officer, if the entity is a corporation, or some person specifically\nauthorized by the corporation to sign the application, to which shall be\nattached written evidence of his or her authority; or\n(d) A licensed certified public accountant, or an attorney licensed to practic e law\nin the Commonwealth, specifically authorized by and acting on behalf of an\nowner, an association, a partnership, a limited liability company, a limited\nliability partnership, a corporation, or other business entity.\n(4) A written signature shall not be required if the applicant registers electronically.","path":["KRS Chapter 139"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=28866","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:50:31Z","sha256":"a91b098fbd544ef13fb3c93983c469e5d9d47396306acaff00b78a74925c02c1","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-139.230","next":"us-ky/krs-139.250"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
