{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-14.300","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 14.300","heading":"Definitions for KRS 14.300 to 14.318.","body":"As used in KRS 14.300 to 14.318 unless the context otherwise requires:\n(1) \"Address\" means a residential street address, school address, or work address of an\nindividual, as specified on the application of an individual to be a program\nparticipant under this section;\n(2) \"Applicant\" means a person applying for certification in the Safe at Home Program\nunder KRS 14.300 to 14.318;\n(3) \"Application assistant\" means a private individual, employee or volunteer of a\ngovernment agency, or an employee or volunteer of a nonprofit program that\nprovides counseling, referral, shelter, or other specialized service to victims of\ndomestic violence, rape, sexual assault, human trafficking, stalking, or other crimes,\nwho has been designated by the respective agency or progra m, and who has been\ntrained and registered by the Secretary of State to assist individuals in establishing a\nsafety program and in the completion of program applications;\n(4) \"Criminal offense against a victim who is a minor\" has the same meaning as in\nKRS 17.500;\n(5) \"Domestic violence and abuse\" has the same meaning as in KRS 403.720;\n(6) \"Human trafficking\" means an offense or attempt to commit an offense as defined\nin:\n(a) KRS 529.100;\n(b) 18 U.S.C. sec. 1589;\n(c) 18 U.S.C. sec. 1592;\n(d) 22 U.S.C. sec. 7102(8);\n(e) 22 U.S.C. sec. 7102(11); or\n(f) 22 U.S.C. sec. 7102(12);\n(7) \"Program participant\" means a person certified as a program participant under KRS\n14.300 to 14.318;\n(8) \"Sex crime\" means an offense or an attempt to commit an offense defined in:\n(a) KRS Chapter 510;\n(b) KRS 530.020;\n(c) KRS 530.064(1)(a);\n(d) KRS 531.120;\n(e) KRS 531.310;\n(f) KRS 531.320; or\n(g) Any criminal attempt to commit an offense specified in this subsection,\nregardless of the penalty for the attempt;\n(9) \"Specified offense\" means:\n(a) Domestic violence and abuse;\n(b) Stalking;\n(c) A sex crime;\n(d) Human trafficking;\n(e) A criminal offense against a victim who is a minor;\n(f) A similar federal offense; or\n(g) A similar offense from another state or territory; and\n(10) \"Stalking\" means conduct prohibited under KRS 508.130.","path":["KRS Chapter 14"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=57438","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:48:31Z","sha256":"da13e034abbe7731a96597ea2d450b85624dc21ae658af0567db6ee5ab0e5a02","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-14.260","next":"us-ky/krs-14.302"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
