{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-141.050","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 141.050","heading":"Federal interpretations applicable, when -- Taxpayer record -- Subpoenas","body":"-- Forms -- Regulations.\n(1) Except to the extent required by differences between this chapter and its application\nand the federal income tax law and its application, th e administrative and judicial\ninterpretations of the federal income tax law, computations of gross income and\ndeductions therefrom, accounting methods, and accounting procedures, for purposes\nof this chapter shall be as nearly as practicable identical with  those required for\nfederal income tax purposes. Changes to federal income tax law made after the\nInternal Revenue Code reference date contained in KRS 141.010 shall not apply for\npurposes of this chapter unless adopted by the General Assembly.\n(2) Every p erson subject to the provisions of this chapter shall keep records, render\nunder oath statements, make returns, and comply with the rules and administrative\nregulations as the department from time to time may promulgate. Whenever the\ndepartment judges it n ecessary, it may require a person, by notice served upon him\nor her, to make a return, render under oath statements, or keep records, as the\ndepartment deems sufficient to show whether or not the person is liable for tax, and\nthe extent of the liability.\n(3) The commissioner or his or her authorized agent or representative, for the purpose\nof ascertaining the correctness of any return or for the purposes of making an\nestimate of the taxable income of any taxpayers, may require the attendance of the\ntaxpayer or of any other person having knowledge in the premises.\n(4) The department shall promulgate rules and regulations necessary to effectively carry\nout the provisions of this chapter.","path":["KRS Chapter 141"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=47384","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:50:34Z","sha256":"f6e8b92937e4785b66d82b7adf43cd800b86d842ae4ba92286517fdb989b67f9","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-141.046","next":"us-ky/krs-141.055"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
