{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-141.410","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 141.410","heading":"Definitions for KRS 141.410 to 141.414.","body":"As used in KRS 141.410 to 141.414, unless the context requires otherwise:\n(1) \"Approved costs\" means the costs incurred during the taxable year by a qualified\nfarming operation for training and improving the skills of managers and employees\ninvolved in a networking project.\n(2) \"Business network\" means a formalized, collaborative mechanism organized by and\noperating among three (3) or more qualified farming operations, industrial entities,\nbusiness enterprises, or private sector firms for the purposes of, b ut not limited to:\npooling expertise; improving responses to changing technology or markets;\nlowering the risks to individual entities of accelerated modernization; encouraging\nnew technology investments, new market development, and employee skills\nimprovement; and developing a system of collective intelligence among\nparticipating entities.\n(3) \"Food producing facilities\" means establishments that manufacture or process foods\nand beverages for human consumption, and which are included under the three (3)\ndigit NAICS code three hundred eleven (311).\n(4) \"Networking project\" means a project by which farmers and other entities involved\nin the production of food join together to form a network approved by the Cabinet\nfor Economic Development for the purpose of p roducing or expanding the\nproduction of crops or livestock necessary for the establishment or expansion of\nsecondary food-producing facilities in Kentucky.\n(5) \"Qualified farming operation\" means an individual, sole proprietorship, partnership,\njoint ventu re, trust, unincorporated organization, association, corporation, or\ninstitution, engaged in farming in Kentucky that provides raw materials for food -\nproducing facilities in Kentucky, and that purchases new buildings or equipment, or\nthat incurs training expenses, to support its participation in a networking project.\n(6) \"NAICS code\" means the classification system grouping business operations or\nenterprises as published in the North American Industry Classification System\nUnited States Manual published by Convergence Working Group and the United\nStates Office of Management and Budget, 2002 edition.\n(7) \"Kentucky gross receipts\" means Kentucky gross receipts as defined in KRS\n141.0401.\n(8) \"Kentucky gross profits\" means Kentucky gross profits as defined in K RS\n141.0401.","path":["KRS Chapter 141"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=29137","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:50:35Z","sha256":"6ac30e8c91fe23f7eaf2372dde3149e33e7a6dcdb2ce6fb13d940366f0eac1bf","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-141.408","next":"us-ky/krs-141.412"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
