{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-142.406","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 142.406","heading":"Tourism, meeting, and convention marketing fund -- Creation and fund","body":"sources -- Authorized investments -- Use of funds -- Annual report to\nLegislative Research Commission and to Governor.\n(1) There is hereby created and established in the State T reasury a trust and agency\naccount to be known as the tourism, meeting, and convention marketing fund. The\nfund shall be administered by the Tourism, Arts and Heritage Cabinet, with the\napproval of the Governor's Office for Policy and Management.\n(2) All tax receipts from the tax imposed under KRS 142.400 shall be deposited into\nthe tourism, meeting, and convention marketing fund, and shall be appropriated for\nthe purposes set forth in subsection (3) of this section. The fund shall also contain\nany other money contributed, allocated, or appropriated to it from any other source.\nMoney in the fund shall be invested by the Finance and Administration Cabinet in\ninstruments authorized under KRS 42.500. Investment proceeds shall be deposited\nto the credit of the f und. Money in the fund shall not lapse but shall be carried\nforward to the next fiscal year or biennium.\n(3) The tourism, meeting, and convention marketing fund shall be used for the sole\npurpose of marketing and promoting tourism in the Commonwealth inclu ding\nexpenditures to market and promote events and venues related to meetings,\nconventions, trade shows, cultural activities, historical sites, recreation,\nentertainment, natural phenomena, areas of scenic beauty, craft marketing, and any\nother economic ac tivity that brings tourists and visitors to the Commonwealth.\nMarketing and promoting tourism shall not include expenditures on capital\nconstruction projects.\n(4) By September 1 of each year, the secretary of the Tourism, Arts and Heritage\nCabinet shall re port to the Governor and the Legislative Research Commission\nconcerning the receipts, expenditures, and carryforwards of the fund for the\npreceding fiscal year.","path":["KRS Chapter 142"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=29230","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:50:36Z","sha256":"68674141481c3f3943862358d720f5ca9cb67e36a6567cf598dd5654ef45cf83","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-142.404","next":"us-ky/krs-142.408"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
