{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-147.070","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 147.070","heading":"State planning functions of Governor's Cabinet.","body":"(1) The Governor's Cabinet shall:\n(a) Prepare and adopt plans for complete systems of state or regional highways,\nexpressways, parkways, parks, water supply and forest reservations, airways\nand air terminals, and other things of significance in furthering a we ll\nbalanced development of the state.\n(b) Advise with state agencies, local authorities and individuals with a view to the\ncoordination of all physical development plans that are related to state\nactivities.\n(c) Make surveys of rural land utilization with a view to the determination of the\nareas suitable for field crops, reforestation, watershed protection, recreation\nand urban expansion.\n(d) Draft for submission to the General Assembly such regulations affecting the\nuse and development of property as are d eemed reasonable and necessary for\norderly and coordinated developments preserving the integrity of officially\napproved plans or conserving the natural resources of the state.\n(e) Collect and publish information relating to welfare problems affecting the\npeople of the state and make such recommendations on those problems to the\nGeneral Assembly as may seem advisable and proper.\n(f) Cooperate with planning boards of other states and the national planning\nboard.\n(g) Act as a research broker in assisting state  government to meet its research\nneeds and to perform such functions also upon request from local\ngovernments.\n(2) The cabinet shall have such powers as are necessary to promote state planning and\nto enable it to carry out the purposes of KRS 147.070 to 147.100.\n(3) All public officials shall upon request furnish to the Governor's Cabinet, within a\nreasonable time, such available information as it may require for its work. The\nmembers and employees of the cabinet may, in the performance of their functions,\nenter upon any land, make examinations and surveys and place and maintain\nnecessary monuments and marks thereon.\n(4) Every state officer or agency, before requesting legislative or executive approval of\na plan or authorization of an appropriation for a maj or public improvement related\nto or affected by any general plan prepared under authority of KRS 147.070 to\n147.100, or before requesting a change of use or disposition of real property that is\nowned by the state or in which the state has an interest, shal l make a written request\nto the Governor's Cabinet for its recommendations, and shall give the cabinet a\nreasonable opportunity to study and make its recommendations thereon.","path":["KRS Chapter 147"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=1564","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:50:38Z","sha256":"d9f7e7cbc07176be41c99cc948cc849e0bd2499ef344321e35a67e79d68fb3bd","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-147.060","next":"us-ky/krs-147.072"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
