{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-147.630","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 147.630","heading":"Commission membership -- Officers -- Quorum -- Meetings.","body":"(1) The area planning commission as created under the provisions of KRS 147.610 to\n147.705 shall be composed of not more than nine (9) members who shall be\nselected from governmental units participating in the existence of the area planning\ncommission by the affirmative action of the area council hereinafter provided for.\n(2) Of the initial membership five (5) members shall be elected for a term of two (2)\nyears, and four (4) members for a term of one (1) year each, and upon the expiration\nof their respective terms the successors of each shall be elected for a term of two (2)\nyears.\n(3) At its first regular meeting in each year, the commission shall elect from its\nmembership a chairman and a vice chairman. The vice chairman shall have the\nauthority to act as the chairman during the absence of its chairman.\n(4) The commission may appoint from within or without its own membership a\nsecretary, prescribe his duties and fix his compensation.\n(5) Members of the commission may be removed for cause by an affirmative acti on of\nthe area council.\n(6) Vacancies may be filled at any time by the affirmative action of the area council for\nthe unexpired term existing.\n(7) Each member of the commission, before entering upon his official duties, shall take\nand subscribe to an oath that he will honestly, faithfully, and impartially perform the\nduties of his office, and that he will not be interested in any contract let for the\npurpose of carrying out any of the provisions of KRS 147.610 to 147.705. The oath\nshall be filed with the county clerk in the county of his residence.\n(8) Each member of the commission shall give a good and sufficient bond, to be\napproved by the area council, conditioned upon the faithful and honest performance\nof his duties, and as security for all moneys comin g into his hands or under his\ncontrol. The cost of the bond shall be paid by the commission.\n(9) A quorum shall consist of a majority of the members of the commission.\n(10) The commission shall appoint a treasurer from within or without its membership,\nprescribe his duties and fix his compensation. The treasurer shall execute a good\nand sufficient bond, conditioned upon the faithful and honest performance of his\nduties and as security for all moneys coming into his hands or under his control.\nSaid bond shall be in the penal sum of twenty -five thousand dollars ($25,000).
