{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-147a.002","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 147A.002","heading":"Department for Local Government -- Organization -- Commissioner.","body":"(1) The Department for Local Government shall be headed by a commissioner and shall\nconsist of the:\n(a) Office of Financial Management and Administration, which shall be headed\nby an executive director appointed by the commissioner and shall be\nresponsible for duties including but not limited to local government financial\nassistance; county budget approval; performance of various recordkeeping\nrequirements for the Commonwealth's cities, counties, and special districts;\nprovision of administrative support for the state local debt officer and the state\nlocal finance officer; administration of the county officials training incentive\nprogram set forth in KRS 64.5275; and provision of financial analysis and\nguidance related to the internal budgetary processes of the Department for\nLocal Government;\n(b) Office of Federal Grants, which shall be headed by an executive director\nappointed by the commissioner and shall be responsible for the administration\nof all federal grant programs;\n(c) Office of State Grants, which sha ll be headed by an executive director\nappointed by the commissioner and shall be responsible for the administration\nof all state grant programs, including the Renaissance on Main Program, the\narea development fund, the body armor program set forth in KRS 1 6.220, the\ncemetery fund program, single county coal severance grants, and any state\ngrant programs or individually funded projects awarded by statute or budget;\n(d) Office of Legal Services, which shall be headed by an executive director\nappointed by the commissioner and shall be responsible for legal services\nwithin the Department for Local Government and for its constituencies around\nthe Commonwealth; and\n(e) Office of Field Services, which shall be headed by an executive director\nappointed by the commis sioner and shall be responsible for duties including\nbut not limited to staffing regional offices to assist local governments.\n(2) The commissioner, with the approval of the Governor, shall appoint necessary\ndeputies, assistants, attorneys, and other employees and shall fix their compensation\nand authorize payment of their expenses according to law.","path":["KRS Chapter 147A"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=1634","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:50:39Z","sha256":"a1b0b71a75e162c66bcb9e3d49db740ae047c078072a9eeb6bf70e8d97dfb787","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-147.990","next":"us-ky/krs-147a.003"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
