{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-147a.080","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 147A.080","heading":"Powers of board of directors.","body":"Each board of directors shall have the power and authority to:\n(1) Adopt and have a common seal and alter the same at pleasure;\n(2) Sue and be sued;\n(3) Adopt bylaws and make rules and regulations for the conduct of its business;\n(4) Make and enter into al l contracts or agreements necessary or incidental to the\nperformance of its duties;\n(5) Provide upon request basic administrative, research, and planning services for any\nplanning and development body located within the district;\n(6) Accept, receive, and administer loans, grants, or other funds or gifts from public and\nprivate agencies including the Commonwealth and the federal government for the\npurpose of carrying out the functions of the district;\n(7) Expend such funds as may be considered by it to be ad visable or necessary in the\nperformance of its duties;\n(8) Acquire, hold as may be necessary and convenient, encumber, or dispose of real and\npersonal property, except that no board shall have the power of eminent domain;\n(9) Charge fees, rents, and otherw ise charge for services provided by the board, except\nthat no board shall have any power to levy taxes;\n(10) Enter into interlocal agreements or interstate compacts to the extent authorized by\nlaws of the Commonwealth. An area development district organiza tion shall be\ndeemed a \"public agency\" as defined by the Interlocal Cooperation Act in KRS\nChapter 65;\n(11) Promote, organize, and advise special districts or other authorities in accordance\nwith laws of the Commonwealth and act as the regional clearinghou se for such\nprograms and projects as prescribed by federal regulation;\n(12) Perform such other and further acts as may be necessary to carry out the duties and\nresponsibilities created by KRS 147A.050 to 147A.120.","path":["KRS Chapter 147A"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=1655","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:50:39Z","sha256":"387855f4cf9cc02918b6ace026558ae41cf9f0cd636772e1bd6ca3e99fad59f0","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-147a.070","next":"us-ky/krs-147a.090"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
