{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-147a.117","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 147A.117","heading":"Contract for audit by certified public accountant or firm instead of the","body":"Auditor of Public Accounts -- Conditions for.\n(1) No area development district shall enter into any contract with a certified public\naccountant or firm to perform an audi t unless the Auditor of Public Accounts has\ndeclined in writing to perform the audit or has failed to respond within thirty (30)\ndays of receipt of a written request. The area development district shall furnish the\nAuditor of Public Accounts with a comprehensive statement of the scope and nature\nof the proposed audit. The actual expense of an audit performed by the Auditor of\nPublic Accounts shall be billed to the audited area development district.\n(2) Any contract with a certified public accountant or firm entered into as a result of the\nAuditor of Public Accounts either declining to perform the audit or failing to\nrespond within thirty (30) days of receipt of a written request for an audit shall\nspecify the following:\n(a) That the certified public accounta nt shall forward a copy of the audit report\nand management letters to the Auditor of Public Accounts for review;\n(b) That the Auditor of Public Accounts shall have the right to review the\ncertified public accountant or firm's work papers before and after t he release\nof the audit; and\n(c) That after review of the certified public accountant or firm's work papers,\nshould discrepancies be found, the Auditor of Public Accounts shall notify the\naudited entity of the discrepancies. If the certified public account ant or firm\ndoes not correct these discrepancies prior to the release of the audit, the\nAuditor of Public Accounts may conduct its own audit to verify the findings\nof the certified public accountant's report.\n(3) If an audit verifying the findings of the certified public accountant or firm's report is\nconducted by the Auditor of Public Accounts, the actual expense of the audit shall\nbe billed to the area development district.","path":["KRS Chapter 147A"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=47107","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:50:39Z","sha256":"941d832102726e6be4167e544efb3e7916903dff8d595240cacf926eaf37d522","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-147a.116","next":"us-ky/krs-147a.120"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
