{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-148.0221","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 148.0221","heading":"Definitions for KRS 148.0221 to 148.0225.","body":"As used in KRS 148.0221 to 148.0225, unless the context requires otherwise:\n(1) \"Authority\" or \"KMRRA\" means the Kentucky Mountain Regional Recreation\nAuthority established in KRS 148.0222;\n(2) \"Board\" means the board of directors of KMRRA;\n(3) \"County\" means a county, charter county, urban -county government, unified local\ngovernment, or consolidated local government;\n(4) \"Kentucky Mountain Recreational Area\" or \"KMRA\" means lands on which there is\na system of recreational trails, including streams, rivers,  and other waterways, and\nappurtenant facilities, including trailhead centers, parking areas, camping facilities,\npicnic areas, recreational areas, historic or cultural interpretive sites, and other\nfacilities in Kentucky and designated by the KMRRA as a part of the KMRA;\n(5) \"Land\" means roads, water, watercourses, buildings, structures, and machinery or\nequipment thereon when attached to the realty;\n(6) \"Landowner\" means a tenant, lessee, occupant, or person in control of the premises;\n(7) \"Participating county\" means a county that has qualified under KRS 148.0222(5);\n(8) \"Participating landowner\" means a landowner who owns land in a participating\ncounty and has a contractual agreement with the KMRRA for trail development as\npart of the KMRA;\n(9) \"Recreational purposes\" means all -terrain vehicle riding, bicycling, canoeing,\nhiking, horseback riding, hunting, kayaking, motorcycle riding, rock climbing,\nfishing, swimming, archaeological activities, nature study, off -highway vehicle\ndriving, pleasure driving, watersports, winter sports, visiting or viewing historical or\nscenic sites, and otherwise using land for purposes pertaining to recreation or trail\nactivities; and\n(10) \"Target county\" means Bell, Boyd, Breathitt, Carter, Clay, Clinton, Elliott, Estill,\nFloyd, Greenup, Harlan, Jackson, Johnson, Knott, Knox, Laurel, Lawrence, Lee,\nLeslie, Letcher, Lewis, Madison, Magoffin, Martin, McCreary, Menifee, Morgan,\nOwsley, Perry, Pike, Powell, Pulaski, Rockcastle, Rowan, Wayne, Whitley, or\nWolfe County.","path":["KRS Chapter 148"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=49295","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:50:40Z","sha256":"59c45c39f2493198845cfb214714bfb9842765cc07befe50ff2e328b7ba3bb68","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-148.022","next":"us-ky/krs-148.0222"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
