{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-148.566","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 148.566","heading":"Authority's powers and duties -- Compensation of board members.","body":"The authority shall have the following duties and authorities:\n(1) The authority shall supervise the design, construction, and operation of the center\nand shall provide all management functions for the facility and for any other\nproperty acquired or leased under its powers established by law.\n(2) The authority shall promote the growth and development of statewide tourism\nrelated to arts and crafts destinations throughout the state and shall ensure that its\nefforts conform to marketing and promotion strategies devised by the Tourism, Arts\nand Heritage Cabinet.\n(3) The authority shall have the exclusive control of scheduling all exhibitions,\nperformances, retail activities, and concessions in the center. The authority shall\nhave a prior lien upon the property of any private exhibitor, concessionaire, or other\nperson holding an exhibition or performance or operating a concession in the center\nand may sell the property upon ten (10) days' notice to satisfy any indebtedness.\n(4) The authority shall participate wit h local hotels and the travel industry to develop\ntourist packages and additional services to attract events, conferences, and\nconventions to the region.\n(5) The authority may take, acquire, and hold property, and all interests therein, by\ndeed, purchase, gift, devise, bequest, or lease, or by transfer from the State Property\nand Buildings Commission and may dispose of any property so acquired in any\nmanner provided by law.\n(6) The authority may adopt administrative regulations in accordance with KRS\nChapter 13A only for governing the operation, maintenance, or use of property\nunder its custody and control.\n(7) The authority may levy a surcharge on tickets for functions held within the center to\ncontribute to operating revenue.\n(8) The authority may sue and be sued and maintain and defend legal actions in its\nname.\n(9) Members of the authority shall serve without compensation, but shall be reimbursed\nfor actual and necessary travel expenses incurred in the performance of their duties.\nThe reimbursement shall be in accordance with administrative regulations\npromulgated under KRS Chapter 13A by the Finance and Administration Cabinet.","path":["KRS Chapter 148"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=1772","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:50:41Z","sha256":"1eac47939fb59e6fb17bec0204f5af9d8226d38e42dd02f29b34cf564815f820","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-148.564","next":"us-ky/krs-148.569"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
