{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-149.332","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 149.332","heading":"Legislative findings and declarations -- Purpose -- Construction with other","body":"laws.\nThe General Assembly finds, determines, and declares as follows:\n(1) Healthy, sustainable forests that are ecologically sound provide economic\nopportunities and benefit the overall quality of life for all Kentuckians;\n(2) High quality forests provide clean air and water and biodiversity;\n(3) A diverse forest economy must include forest product industries, recreation, and\ntourism;\n(4) Timber harvesting operations must be conducted in an ecologically sound manner;\n(5) Kentucky must promote the stewardship of its public and private forest lands while\nrecognizing the rights and responsibilities of private landowners;\n(6) Comprehensive continuous forest inventories are needed t o provide information to\nmake decisions to meet present and future needs;\n(7) Increased awareness of the economic, social, and ecological importance of\nKentucky's forests is needed to:\n(a) Educate the public and industry in order to make wise decisions for  the future\nof the forest resource; and\n(b) Recognize and respond to threats to the forest resource;\n(8) It is the purpose of KRS 149.330 to 149.355 to provide private landowners and\nloggers with education, technical assistance, and incentives that encoura ge them to\nmanage their properties and carry out timber harvesting operations that will assure\nsustainable forests in the Commonwealth; and\n(9) KRS 149.330 to 149.355 shall not be construed as affecting the requirements of any\nother laws of the Commonwealt h relating to environmental protection, including\nwater quality or forestry.","path":["KRS Chapter 149"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=1879","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:50:42Z","sha256":"6760073ff378636daa90004263062640a99efc14fc9e55cf486c4feea558ef4a","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-149.330","next":"us-ky/krs-149.334"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
