{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-149.342","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 149.342","heading":"Timber harvesting operations -- Master logger training and educational","body":"requirements -- Temporary master logger designation.\n(1) After two (2) years from July 15, 1998, no person shall conduct timber harvesting\noperations within the Commonwealth unless  there is on the site during the timber\nharvesting operations at least one (1) logger in charge of the harvest who has\nsuccessfully completed the Master Logger Program or who has received a\ntemporary master logger designation in accordance with the cabinet requirements as\nprovided for in subsection (4) of this section.\n(2) After successful completion of the Master Logger Program, continuing education\nshall be required of the loggers every three (3) years.\n(3) The cabinet shall specify the education and trai ning requirements for the Master\nLogger Program as developed by the University of Kentucky, the Kentucky Forest\nIndustries Association, and the division, shall specify the requirements for\ncontinuing education, and, may establish a basic fee for the progra m that bears a\nreasonable relationship to the cost of training.\n(4) The cabinet shall specify requirements for a temporary master logger designation,\nwhich shall be valid for four (4) months.\n(5) A logger or operator who uses a temporary master logger shal l notify the division\nprior to beginning the timber harvesting operation on which a temporary master\nlogger is on site and in charge.\n(6) The division shall maintain a current list of all loggers who have successfully\ncompleted the Master Logger Program and required continuing education, and shall\nmake the list available to the public. All master loggers shall provide the cabinet\nwith a published phone number.\n(7) Loggers who have previously completed the Kentucky Master Logger Program are\nconsidered to be in compliance with subsection (1) of this section.\n(8) Any logger who primarily uses mules or horses in the logging operation shall be\nexempt from the Master Logger Program.\n(9) After two (2) years from July 15, 1998, all state parks shall have on staff at least one\n(1) employee who has completed the Master Logger Program.","path":["KRS Chapter 149"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=1884","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:50:42Z","sha256":"7ec90796dcf64877a2f772c7081810d056fdc7b061713daf174036ca63efaf3c","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-149.340","next":"us-ky/krs-149.344"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
