{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-149.385","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 149.385","heading":"Wood, saw or processing mills and railroads, regulation.","body":"(1) Any person operating or responsible for the operation of a sawmill, stavemill,\nheading mill, or other woodworking mill, or any manufacturing or processing\nestablishment not entirely enclosed with fireproof or fire resistant walls or other\nfireproof or fire  resistant shielding, shall if such mill or establishment is in or\nadjacent to timberland, maintain a cleared area of at least one hundred fifty feet\n(150') in all directions from any fires maintained in or about or in connection with\nthe operation of such  mill or establishment, and for a distance of one hundred feet\n(100') in all directions from any sawdust pile, slab pile, or any other flammable\nmaterial accumulated from the operation of such mill or establishment.\n(2) Each railroad company shall place in , on or around the top of the chimney of each\nof its locomotives a screen, fender, damper or other appliance that will prevent as\nfar as possible sparks of fire escaping from the chimney within or adjacent to\ntimberland.\n(3) Each railroad company within or  adjacent to timberland shall keep its right -of-way\nclear and free from weeds, high grass and decayed timber that is likely to take and\ncommunicate fire from passing trains to abutting or adjacent property.","path":["KRS Chapter 149"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=1895","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:50:42Z","sha256":"1903760df1e3cc11c5ad5bf386a779f2da0545d62729c5bf19a74a4b49803821","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-149.380","next":"us-ky/krs-149.390"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
