{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-14a.4-040","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 14A.4-040","heading":"Service through registered agent.","body":"(1) An entity's or foreign entity's registered agent shall be its agent for service of\nprocess, notice, or demand required or permitted by law to be served on the entity or\nforeign entity.\n(2) If an entity or foreign entity has no registered agent, or the agen t cannot with\nreasonable diligence be served, the entity or foreign entity may be served with\nprocess, or any notice or demand may be served by registered or certified mail,\nreturn receipt requested, addressed to the entity or foreign entity at its princip al\noffice and to the attention of the person or office appropriate for giving notice to the\nentity or foreign entity. Service shall be perfected under this subsection at the\nearliest of:\n(a) The date the entity or foreign entity receives the mail;\n(b) The date shown on the return receipt, if signed on behalf of the entity or\nforeign entity; or\n(c) Five (5) days after its deposit in the United States mail, as evidenced by the\npostmark, if mailed postage paid and correctly addressed.\n(3) This section does not  prescribe the only means, or necessarily the required means,\nof serving an entity or foreign entity.","path":[],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=36553","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:48:32Z","sha256":"2757714efad05ee2f4625aa561510d89431bb44e412d7054f4c884fd21575dba","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-14a.4-030","next":"us-ky/krs-14a.4-050"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
