{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-15.060","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 15.060","heading":"Actions to collect and recover money due Commonwealth with assistance of","body":"Department of Revenue, Auditor of Public Accounts, or any other appropriate\nagency.\nThe Attorney General may:\n(1) With the assistance of the Auditor of Public Accounts, t he Department of Revenue,\nor any other appropriate agency, investigate the condition of any unsatisfied claim,\ndemand, account, and judgment in favor of the Commonwealth.\n(2) When he believes that any fraudulent, erroneous or illegal fee bill, account, cre dit,\ncharge or claim has been erroneously or improperly approved, allowed or paid out\nof the Treasury to any person, institute the necessary actions to recover the same. To\nthis end he may employ assistants and experts to assist in examining the fee bills,\naccounts, settlements, credits and claims, and the books, records and papers of any\nof the officers of the Commonwealth.\n(3) Institute the necessary actions to collect and cause the payment into the Treasury of\nall unsatisfied claims, demands, accounts an d judgments in favor of the\nCommonwealth, except where specific statutory authority is given the Department\nof Revenue to do so.\n(4) Comply with KRS 48.005, if any funds of any kind or nature whatsoever are\nrecovered by or on behalf of the Commonwealth, in  any legal action, including an\nex rel. action in which the Attorney General has entered an appearance or is a party\nunder statutory or common law authority.","path":["KRS Chapter 15"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=51424","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:48:32Z","sha256":"9434517395c9e043d2e1f5496afbf5d579b7c791893f4a60cea6fec3212245a4","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-15.055","next":"us-ky/krs-15.070"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
