{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-15.100","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 15.100","heading":"Deputy attorney general, solicitor general, assistant deputy attorneys","body":"general, assistants, special attorneys and contract attorneys.\n(1) The Attorney General shall appoint a deputy attorney general, who shall have the\nsame qualifications required of a Circuit Judge except for residence in a district and\nwho shall receive the same salary as a Circuit Judge, to serve at the pleasure of the\nAttorney General and to perform the duties he or she may designate. The Attorney\nGeneral may appoint two (2 ) assistant deputy attorneys general, who shall have the\nsame qualifications required of a District Judge except for residence in a district and\nwho shall receive the same salary as a District Judge, to serve at the pleasure of the\nAttorney General and to perform the duties he or she may designate. In addition\nthereto, he or she shall appoint a solicitor general to serve at the pleasure of the\nAttorney General and to perform the duties he or she may designate and shall set his\nor her salary.\n(2) In addition to the deputy attorney general, the Attorney General shall appoint such\nassistants and special attorneys as he or she deems necessary to transact the business\nof the Department of Law, and to perform the duties he or she may designate. The\ndeputy attorney general, assistant deputy attorneys general, assistants, and special\nattorneys shall have full power, as authorized and under the direction of the\nAttorney General, to perform such duties as may be performed by the Attorney\nGeneral. The Attorney General shall be responsible for the official acts of his or her\ndeputy, assistant deputy attorneys general, assistants, and special attorneys.\n(3) In addition to the appointment and designation of a deputy, assistant deputy\nattorneys general, assistants, and speci al attorneys pursuant to subsections (1) and\n(2) of this section, the Attorney General may enter into such contracts for legal\nservices as he or she deems necessary and advisable. Such contracts shall be subject\nto the relevant provisions of the Kentucky M odel Procurement Code in KRS\nChapter 45A.\n(4) Each assistant or special attorney so appointed or designated shall be a person\nadmitted to the practice of law by the Supreme Court of this Commonwealth and\nshall qualify by taking the oath of office.","path":["KRS Chapter 15"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=50002","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:48:32Z","sha256":"ac684ae6ff5760ba3bcf75ec07a90b6d356ae826718e57e3d6d3ff60420b02e9","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-15.090","next":"us-ky/krs-15.105"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
