{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-15.114","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 15.114","heading":"Human trafficking -- Establishment of working group by the Office of the","body":"Attorney General -- Duties.\n(1) The Office of the Attorney General may establish a working group to address all\naspects of human trafficking, including commercial sexual activity and forced labor\nor services.\n(2) If established, the working group shall be chaired by the Attorney General or his or\nher designee and may be composed of representatives from the following\norganizations:\n(a) A Commonwealth's attorney or his or he r designee appointed by the Attorney\nGeneral;\n(b) A county attorney or his or her designee appointed by the Attorney General;\n(c) A United States Attorney or his or her designee from either federal district in\nKentucky appointed by the Attorney General;\n(d) The commissioner of the Department for Community Based Services or his or\nher designee;\n(e) The commissioner of the Department of Juvenile Justice or his or her\ndesignee;\n(f) The commissioner of the Department of Corrections or his or her designee;\n(g) The commissioner of the Department of Criminal Justice Training or his or\nher designee;\n(h) The commissioner of the Department of Kentucky State Police or his or her\ndesignee;\n(i) A representative from the Kentucky Association of Chiefs of Police appointed\nby the Attorney General;\n(j) A representative from the Kentucky Sheriffs' Association appointed by the\nAttorney General;\n(k) A representative from a federal law enforcement agency  that operates within\nthe Commonwealth appointed by the Attorney General;\n(l) The executive director of the Administrative Office of the Courts or his or her\ndesignee;\n(m) Two (2) victim advocates, employed by a Commonwealth's attorney, county\nattorney, or law enforcement agency, appointed by the Attorney General;\n(n) The following nongovernmental service providers who regularly provide\nservices or advocacy to human trafficking victims, all appointed by the\nAttorney General:\n1. A community-based victim advocate;\n2. A community service provider;\n3. A health care professional;\n4. A mental health care professional; and\n5. A juvenile runaway or homeless shelter provider;\n(o) The executive director of the Children's Advocacy Centers of Kentucky or his\nor her designee;\n(p) A victim of sex trafficking appointed by the Attorney General;\n(q) A victim of labor trafficking appointed by the Attorney General;\n(r) A representative from the Kentucky Coalition Against Domestic Violence\nappointed by the Attorney General;\n(s) A representative from the Kentucky Association of Sexual Assault Programs\nappointed by the Attorney General; and\n(t) A college or university professor specializing in human trafficking appointed\nby the Attorney General.\n(3) Any working group created by the  Attorney General shall meet at the call of the\nchair and make recommendations regarding:\n(a) Identification of human trafficking victims;\n(b) Delivery of comprehensive services;\n(c) Identification, investigation, and successful prosecution of offenders;\n(d) Training criminal justice system professionals on trauma-informed practices;\n(e) Collection of data to assess barriers to assisting victims of human trafficking;\n(f) Facilitating collaborative decision making, coordinated planning, and\ncooperative implementation among agencies and relevant partners;\n(g) Supporting the fair, efficient, and effective operation of the criminal justice\nsystem to improve public safety and homeland security while respecting the\nprivacy of citizens;\n(h) Allowing agencies to sha re appropriate information securely and efficiently;\nand\n(i) Identifying gaps in the ability of the Commonwealth to adequately respond to\nhuman trafficking.","path":["KRS Chapter 15"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=54878","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:48:32Z","sha256":"c4af59b1b9ebb4029c07133950966d71bd53158cedf745306e9410cb70a2b513","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-15.113","next":"us-ky/krs-15.115"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
