{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-15.245","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 15.245","heading":"Witness and victim rights pamphlet -- Preparation -- Distribution.","body":"(1) The Attorney General shall prepare a pamphlet  of not more than two (2) pages\nexplaining to victims and witnesses of crime:\n(a) How the criminal justice system functions from the point of the complaint\nthrough the trial;\n(b) The role of the attorney for the Commonwealth;\n(c) The role of the defense attorney and whether the victim or witness must talk to\nthe defense attorney and under what conditions;\n(d) The process for applying for crime victim compensation money;\n(e) The duties of the attorney for the Commonwealth under KRS 421.500;\n(f) How the victim or witness can be notified of the release of a person from a\njuvenile detention facility, jail, or prison;\n(g) General information on how the victim or witness can protect himself from\nintimidation; and\n(h) Such other information as the Attorney General deems relevant.\n(2) The Attorney General shall provide the pamphlet to each Commonwealth's and\ncounty attorney in sufficient quantity to distribute to victims of crime and to\nwitnesses for the Commonwealth.\n(3) Each Commonwealth's and county attorney shall distribute the pamphlet to crime\nvictims and witnesses and may distribute the pamphlet to other interested persons.\nNo charge shall be made for the pamphlet.","path":["KRS Chapter 15"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=911","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:48:33Z","sha256":"7967c68cce14c27899b85c28e68ff451d1fc965d0945c4c2021204bae9968fdd","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-15.243","next":"us-ky/krs-15.247"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
