{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-15.247","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 15.247","heading":"Victim, witness, and family protection program -- Protective services.","body":"(1) The Attorney General shall develop and administer a program for the protection of\ncrime victims and witnesses and their immediate families.\n(2) Within the limits of the administrative regulations, guidelines, and appropriations\nfor this purpose, the progra m shall provide funding to the Department of Kentucky\nState Police or to a sheriff's office or city or county police department agreeing to\nprovide protection to crime victims and witnesses and their families.\n(3) Any Commonwealth's attorney or county atto rney may apply to the Attorney\nGeneral for funding for protection of crime victims, witnesses, and their families.\n(4) No protective service shall be rendered to the same person for more than six (6)\nmonths.\n(5) Protective services funded by this program shall be limited to:\n(a) Physical protection of the person;\n(b) Physical security measures for the person's residence, vehicle, workplace, or\ncombination thereof; or\n(c) Short-term relocation.\n(6) The Attorney General shall promulgate administrative regulat ions under KRS\nChapter 13A for the operation of the program.\n(7) Nothing in this statute shall be construed to create a cause of action for money\ndamages against the state, a county, a municipality, or any of their agencies, public\nofficials, or employees.\n(8) No court shall order a law enforcement agency to protect crime victim witnesses or\ntheir immediate families.\n(9) No record that may lead to the identity of a person seeking or given protection under\nthis section shall be an open record.
