All peace\nofficers employed as of December 1, 1998, sh all be deemed to have met all the\nrequirements of KRS 15.380 to 15.404 and shall be granted certified status as long\nas they:\n(a) Remain in continuous employment of the agency by which they were\nemployed as of December 1, 1998, and are employed within thre e hundred\nsixty-five (365) days by another law enforcement agency subject to the\nprovisions of KRS 15.380 to 15.404;\n(b) Retired from employment with certified status on or after July 1, 2008, and\nare reemployed no later than one hundred (100) days from Ma rch 15, 2011,\nby a law enforcement agency subject to KRS 15.380 to 15.404; or\n(c) Have successfully completed an approved basic training course approved and\nrecognized by the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council pursuant to KRS\n15.440(1)(d) when seeking employ ment with another law enforcement\nagency.\n(2) Any peace officers employed after December 1, 1998, shall comply with all\nminimum standards specified in KRS 15.380 to 15.404 or comply with the\nrequirements set forth in KRS 15.440(1)(d)6. Persons newly employed or appointed\nafter December 1, 1998, shall have one (1) year within which to gain certified status\nor they shall lose their law enforcement powers.\n(3) The Open Records Act notwithstanding, the person's home address, telephone\nnumber, date of birth, Soc ial Security number, background investigation, medical\nexamination, psychological examination, and polygraph examination conducted for\nany person seeking certification pursuant to KRS 15.380 to 15.404 shall not be\nsubject to disclosure.","path":["KRS Chapter 15"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=53599","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:48:33Z","sha256":"e0c9840c9e73aa6b678e03f64cad479c5318dcd2ca6611ba7115859678043d72","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-15.398","next":"us-ky/krs-15.402"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
