{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-15.470","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 15.470","heading":"Purposes for which funds may be used.","body":"Law Enforcement Foundation Program funds made available to units of government shall\nbe received, held, and expended in accordance with the provisions of KRS 15.410 to\n15.510, including the administrative regulations promulgated by the cabinet and the\nfollowing specific restrictions:\n(1) Funds provided shall be used only as a cash salary supplement to police officers, for\npayments to the retirement plan to which the officer belongs to cover employer\nretirement costs on the cash salary supplement, and for ad ministrative costs as\nprovided in KRS 15.450;\n(2) Funds provided shall be used only to compensate police officers who have\ncomplied with KRS 15.440(1)(c), (d), and (e);\n(3) Each police officer shall be entitled to receive the state supplement that the offi cer's\nqualifications brought to the unit of government;\n(4) Funds provided shall not be used to supplant existing salaries or as a substitute for\nnormal salary increases periodically due to police officers;\n(5) Each police officer receiving the state suppl ement who is also a member of the\nKentucky National Guard or any reserve component of the United States Armed\nForces shall continue to receive the state supplement during any period of military\nactivation, as provided in KRS 15.460(2); and\n(6) Funds distri buted or received pursuant to subsection (5) of this section shall be\nexcluded from all aspects of the Kentucky Retirement Systems or any other\nretirement system.","path":["KRS Chapter 15"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=47440","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:48:34Z","sha256":"df4a3c3aa81cffd33878de57fa5806387e1a4b94f9259d058df039e195a2d90b","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-15.460","next":"us-ky/krs-15.480"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
