{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-15.515","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 15.515","heading":"Participation in the Kentucky Law Enforcement Foundation Program Fund","body":"by a police officer who is elected jailer.\n(1) A police officer who is elected as a jailer shall retain eligibility for Kentucky Law\nEnforcement Foundation Program Fund participation  following his or her term of\noffice as jailer, subject to the following conditions:\n(a) The police officer successfully completed a basic training course approved or\nrecognized by the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council;\n(b) The person has been continuously employed as a police officer since basic\ntraining and has maintained his or her annual in -service training prior to the\npolice officer's election to the office of jailer; and\n(c) During his or her term of office as jailer, the person has successfully\ncompleted forty (40) hours of annual in -service training approved or\nrecognized by the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council.\n(2) During his or her term of office, the jailer shall not be eligible to participate in the\nKentucky Law Enforcement Foundation Program Fund.\n(3) Upon the jailer's return to a law enforcement agency that is eligible to participate in\nthe Kentucky Law Enforcement Foundation Program Fund, he or she may\nparticipate in the fund, if otherwise eligible, without repeating basic training in its\nentirety. The jailer may be required to complete no more than eighty (80) hours of\ntraining as determined by the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council to participate in\nthe fund.\n(4) In-service training required of the jailer under this section shall be provided by the\nDepartment of Criminal Justice Training without the cost of tuition to the jailer.\n(5) The provisions of this section shall apply to any person serving as elected jailer on\nor after June 21, 2001, regardless of when the initial basic training was completed.\n(6) An elected jailer who is in office as of June 21, 2001, and who has successfully\ncompleted annual Department of Corrections in -service training during his or her\nterm of office shall be deemed to have met the in -service training requirement of\nsubsection (1) of this section. After June 21, 2001, an elected jailer shall meet the\nrequirements of subsection (1) of this section to retain Kentucky Law Enforcement\nFoundation Program Fund eligibility.","path":["KRS Chapter 15"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=966","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:48:34Z","sha256":"dde7fb3e333a82a127faeceafb05f0e114e62b90e7bd9e4a5361439578e1277f","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-15.512","next":"us-ky/krs-15.518"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
