{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-15.530","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 15.530","heading":"Definitions for KRS 15.530 to 15.590.","body":"For the purposes of KRS 15.530 to 15.590:\n(1) \"CJIS\" means the Criminal Justice Information System;\n(2) \"CJIS-full access course\" means an online training program administered and\napproved by the Kentucky State Police CJIS Services Agency;\n(3) \"Commissioner\" means the commissioner of the Department of Criminal Justice\nTraining;\n(4) \"Full-time public safety telecommunicator academy\" means a training course of at\nleast one hundred sixty (160) hours approved by the Kentucky Law Enforcement\nCouncil and delivere d by one (1) of the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council -\napproved academies in the state;\n(5) \"Public safety telecommunicator\" or \"telecommunicator\" means any public\nemployee, sworn or civilian, who functions as a public safety dispatcher, 911\ntelecommunicator, or 911 call taker, whose duties and responsibilities include:\n(a) Answering, receiving, transferring, or dispatching functions related to 911\ncalls, as the primary or secondary public safety answering point or emergency\ncommunication center;\n(b) Dispatching law enforcement officers, fire rescue services, emergency\nmedical services, emergency management, and other public safety services to\nthe scene of an emergency; or\n(c) Providing real-time information from federal, state, and local crime databases;\nand\n(6) \"Telecommunicator overview training\" means a forty (40) hour online course\napproved by the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council.","path":["KRS Chapter 15"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=56666","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:48:34Z","sha256":"5c03ae0aea65803b49b2ceaab7c75ff8fbf5c145a1535f9c0bed3357d420e5a7","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-15.525","next":"us-ky/krs-15.540"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
