{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-150.183","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 150.183","heading":"Importing, transporting or possessing endangered species of wildlife.","body":"(1) No person shall import, transport, possess for resale or sell any endangered species\nof wildlife, the hides, skins, or other parts thereof, or any article made in whole or in\npart from the skin, hide, or other parts of any species of wildlife designated as  an\nendangered species by regulation promulgated by the Department of Fish and\nWildlife Resources except as provided in subsection (3) of this section. As used in\nthis section, the term \"endangered species\" means any species of wildlife seriously\nthreatened with worldwide extinction or in danger of being extirpated from the\nCommonwealth of Kentucky.\n(2) The regulation or regulations promulgated pursuant to subsection (1) of this section\nshall include, but not be limited to, all species of wildlife designate d as endangered\nspecies by the United States Secretary of the Interior on January 1, 1973.\n(3) The Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources may permit, under such terms and\nconditions as it may prescribe, the importation, transportation, possession, or sale of\nany species of wildlife otherwise prohibited pursuant to this section for zoological,\neducational, or scientific purposes, and for the propagation of such wildlife in\ncaptivity for preservation purposes except as otherwise prohibited by law.","path":["KRS Chapter 150"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=1973","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:50:43Z","sha256":"440c6c758c17efd5f3bcf509f8a204e5fc00c274e89958103edd03c41579b16c","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-150.180","next":"us-ky/krs-150.185"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
