{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-150.360","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 150.360","heading":"Restrictions on taking of wildlife -- Discharge of weapon across public","body":"roadway prohibited.\n(1) No person shall take any wildlife, whether protected by this chapter or not, except\nby trapping, snaring, gig, crossbow, bow and arrow, hook and l ine, nets, gun, gun\nand dog, dog, falconry, or as expressly prescribed by regulation.\n(2) Shotguns used in the taking of wildlife, protected or unprotected, shall not be larger\nthan 10-gauge and shall be fired from the shoulder. No wildlife, except deer or  light\ngeese during a light geese conservation order, protected or unprotected, shall be\ntaken with or by means of any automatic loading or hand -operated repeating\nshotgun capable of holding more than three (3) shells, the magazine of which has\nnot been cut off or plugged with a one (1) piece filler incapable of removal through\nthe loading end, in such manner as to reduce the capacity of the gun to not more\nthan three (3) shells at one (1) time in the magazine and chamber combined.\n(3) No person shall take or attempt to take any wildlife, protected or unprotected, from\nan automobile, or other vehicle, unless prescribed by regulation. Boats may be used\nexcept as prohibited by state or federal regulation.\n(4) No person shall discharge any firearm, bow and arro w, crossbow or other similar\ndevice, upon, over, or across any public roadway.\n(5) No person shall take wildlife, except opossum, raccoon, fishes, beavers, and frogs,\nwith lights or other means designed to make wildlife visible at night. Within ninety\n(90) days after April 10, 2026, the department shall promulgate administrative\nregulations in accordance with KRS Chapter 13A for nocturnal beaver hunting.\n(6) Coyotes and bobcat may be taken at night with means designed to make wildlife\nvisible at night, incl uding but not limited to night vision, thermal, and infrared\ntechnologies, as established by administrative regulation.","path":["KRS Chapter 150"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=56841","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:50:44Z","sha256":"93de3d86a8cd4811236112496b1e21396ed9851e3308731de1c27fbfe119f496","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-150.355","next":"us-ky/krs-150.361"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
