{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-151.220","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 151.220","heading":"Water resources studies.","body":"The cabinet shall:\n(1) Undertake for and as the official agency of the state, such studies and prepare such\nreports and recommendations as may be necessary to establish a statewide program\nof flood control, including major drainage, and a statewide program for the\ndevelopment of water resources;\n(2) Study and review for the state as its official agency, all survey reports, engineering\nreports, and other reports concerning or affecting water related projects within the\nstate which are proposed for construction by the federal gover nment, the state\ngovernment or any agency or subdivision thereof, or which will involve the\nexpenditure of federal or state funds, and which might affect flood control or the\ndevelopment of water resources of the state, and to act as the official represent ative\nof the state in any representations, recommendations, or requests to Congress or the\nGeneral Assembly concerning such projects or the priority which should be\naccorded them with relation to the statewide program;\n(3) Make a continuous water resources study of data from other existing state or federal\nagencies and such other sources as may be available. From such studies, the cabinet\nshall formulate conclusions and recommendations for use by the Commonwealth in\nassuring the maximum beneficial use of the water resources of the Commonwealth;\n(4) Cooperate with any local, state, or federal agency, or the agencies of any other state\nengaged or proposing to engage in any work which will affect or be affected by the\nfunctions of the cabinet and may lend to or  receive from any such agency such\nfinancial assistance as may be necessary within the limits of authorized\nexpenditure;\n(5) Have, for flood control and water resources development purposes, jurisdiction over\nall streams within or bordering upon the state.
