{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-151.601","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 151.601","heading":"County and multicounty water management planning councils.","body":"(1) Water management planning councils shall be established for each county with the\nassistance of the appropriate area development district. Two (2) or more counties\nmay form a multi county water management planning council. The planning\ncouncils shall, as a minimum, be comprised of the following:\n(a) Each county judge/executive or mayor of an urban -county government, or his\nor her authorized representative;\n(b) One (1) representative selected by each community public water system, as\ndefined in 401 KAR 8:010 sec. 1(71)(a), that provides water to persons in the\ncounty;\n(c) One (1) representative selected by a local health department in the county; and\n(d) One (1) representative selected  by each city with a population equal to or\ngreater than one thousand (1,000) based upon the most recent federal\ndecennial census that is not a water supplier or distributor, unless that city\nchooses to be represented by another member of the planning council.\n(2) If, after the water management planning council appointments have been made, a\ncounty judge/executive or mayor of an urban -county government determines that\nany areas of the county or urban county government remain unrepresented on the\nplanning co uncil, the county judge/executive or mayor of the urban -county\ngovernment may appoint an individual to represent that area.\n(3) The county judge/executive or mayor of an urban -county government or the county\njudge/executive or the mayor's designated repres entative shall serve as the chair of\nthe water management planning council of which either the county judge/executive\nor the mayor is a member.\n(4) Members of the water management planning councils shall serve without pay but\nmay be reimbursed by counties or appointing agencies for reasonable expenses\nincurred to carry out the work of the councils.\n(5) The area development districts shall develop a forum for the chairpersons of the\nwater management planning councils or multicounty planning councils to meet on\nat least a quarterly basis for the purpose of developing regional service strategies\nconsistent with the findings and purpose set out in KRS 224A.300.","path":["KRS Chapter 151"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=54168","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:50:45Z","sha256":"c2b45495d939f29233f3fcac6615f4a425a3d346ac27ff0c7830e9463d06496c","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-151.600","next":"us-ky/krs-151.603"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
