{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-151.625","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 151.625","heading":"Establishment of long-term groundwater monitoring network -- Duties.","body":"(1) The KGS shall, in cooperation with the Interagency Technical Advisory Committee\non Groundwater, establish a long -term groundwater monitoring network for the\npurpose of characterizing the quality, quantity, and distribution of Kentucky's\ngroundwater resources.\n(2) The monitoring network shall include:\n(a) Representative sites sampled by various agencies;\n(b) Water wells, springs, and surface water associated with wells and springs; and\n(c) New monitoring wells installed in areas of demonstrated need.\nThis network shall collect information on a statewide basis and provide long -term\ndata collection to determine the quality, quantity, and occurrence of groundwater\nthroughout the Commonwealth.\n(3) The KGS shall utilize collected data to support research efforts that develop models\nfor groundwater systems, and to determine and monitor trends of groundwater\nmovement, water quality, and quantity.\n(4) The KGS shall provide data from the network to the Kentucky Groundwater Data\nRepository and make the data readily ava ilable to the public, government agencies,\nindustry, and other entities that request access. Analyzed data may be made\navailable in the form of maps, charts, bulletins, and reports.\n(5) The KGS shall solicit input from federal, state, and local agencies, a nd industry,\nagriculture, universities, and the public to determine priority monitoring locations\nbased on water quality and quantity concerns as the network is developed.\n(6) Within ninety (90) days of the end of each state fiscal year, the KGS shall provide to\nthe Governor and the Legislative Research Commission a summary of the\ngroundwater monitoring network data collection and analysis activities.","path":["KRS Chapter 151"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=2145","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:50:46Z","sha256":"51ed75bb007f89c85ef83aefcd8c8d47a47bb5a315778abb2c7693326a7021cc","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-151.621","next":"us-ky/krs-151.629"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
