{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-151.629","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 151.629","heading":"Interagency Technical Advisory Committee on Groundwater -- Duties and","body":"responsibilities.\n(1) There is established an Interagency Technical Advisory Committee on Groundwater\nto assist the KGS in the development, coordination, and implementation of a\ngroundwater monitoring network for the Commonwealth. The committee shall\nconsist of one (1) representative from each of the following agencies, to be\nappointed by that agency:\n(a) Division of Conservation of the Department for Natural Resources;\n(b) Division of Public Health Protection and Safety of the Cabinet for Health and\nFamily Services;\n(c) Division of Forestry of the Department for Natural Resources;\n(d) Division of Environmental Services of the Department of Agriculture;\n(e) Division of Waste Managemen t of the Department for Environmental\nProtection;\n(f) Division of Water of the Department for Environmental Protection;\n(g) Department for Environmental Protection;\n(h) Department for Natural Resources;\n(i) Kentucky Geological Survey;\n(j) University of Kentucky College of Agriculture; and\n(k) University of Kentucky Water Resources Research Institute.\n(2) The committee shall have two (2) nonvoting legislative liaisons who shall be\nmembers of the General Assembly. One (1) liaison shall be a House member\nappointed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives and one (1) liaison shall\nbe a Senate member appointed by the President of the Senate. The chair of the\ncommittee shall be the director of the University of Kentucky Water Resources\nResearch Institute. The duties and responsibilities of the committee shall include:\n(a) Developing a plan to coordinate agencies for the overall characterization of\nthe state's groundwater, including occurrence, flow systems, water quantity,\nand water quality;\n(b) Reviewing the data entry process to ensure that all data collected is placed into\nthe Kentucky Groundwater Data Repository;\n(c) Establishing a long -term groundwater monitoring plan for the\nCommonwealth;\n(d) Making recommendations for prioritization of the state's groundwater research\nneeds; and\n(e) Annually reviewing and evaluating groundwater data collection and analysis.\n(3) In addition to the members identified in subsection (1) or (2) of this section, the\ncommittee may have, as one (1) of its members, o ne (1) nonvoting representative\nfrom the United States Geological Survey, appointed by that agency.","path":["KRS Chapter 151"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=2146","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:50:46Z","sha256":"9bbd17f04bcc47abafe881b0aef1146135b942485e949481e5d94253cf83611c","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-151.625","next":"us-ky/krs-151.630"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
