{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-153.215","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 153.215","heading":"Kentucky  Arts Council -- Functions -- Purpose  -- Members  --","body":"Compensation  -- Officers -- Meetings.\n(1) There is established the Kentucky Arts Council (hereinafter referred to as \"the\ncouncil\") which shall perform functions pursuant to KRS 153.210 to 153.235.\n(2) The  purpose of the council shall be to develop and promote a broadly\nconceived state policy of support for the arts in Kentucky pursuant to KRS\n153.210 to 153.235.\n(3) The Governor shall appoint members  to the council. The council shall consist\nof not more than fifteen (15) members  who have an interest in the arts and\nhave the ability and experience to provide broad expertise in operation of the\ncouncil. Members  shall reflect the diverse interests of the arts community to the\nextent such diversity is possible. At least one (1) member  shall represent each\nof the following areas: education, economic development, and workforce\ndevelopment. The Governor shall appoint three (3) members  for a term to\nexpire on November  18, 2017; five (5) members  for a term to expire on\nNovember  18, 2018; four (4) members  for a term to expire on November  18,\n2019; and three (3) members  for a term to expire on November  18, 2020.\nThereafter the Governor shall make  all appointments for a term of four (4)\nyears. Members  may be reappointed to one (1) additional four (4) year term.\n(4) Council members  shall not receive any compensation for their services, but\nmay  be reimbursed in accordance with the provisions of KRS  Chapters 44 and\n45  for actual and necessary expenses incurred in the performance of their\nduties under KRS 153.210 to 153.235.\n(5) From  the council membership the Governor shall appoint a chair and a vice\nchair of the council who  shall serve at the pleasure of the Governor. The\ncouncil may elect by majority vote other officers deemed  necessary. The chair\nshall not be represented by a proxy. Should the chair be unavailable, the vice\nchair shall serve in the chair's stead.\n(6) The council shall meet at the call of the chair, but not less often than three (3)\ntimes during each calendar year. A majority of the members  appointed to the\ncouncil shall constitute a quorum.\n(7) The council shall be attached to the Tourism, Arts and Heritage Cabinet as a\ndepartment within the meaning of KRS Chapter 12.\n(8) The  council shall be headed  by an executive director appointed by the\nsecretary of the Tourism, Arts and Heritage Cabinet and confirmed by majority\nvote of the council.","path":["KRS Chapter 153"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=46669","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:50:50Z","sha256":"193af4fc430f8bfbdd80935addb67e6131829e056f94cf187444f846986c1fba","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-153.210","next":"us-ky/krs-153.220"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
