{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-154.1-750","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 154.1-750","heading":"Kentucky Small Business Development Center Network -- Programs and","body":"services -- Report to Legislative Research Commission.\n(1) It is the intention of the General Assembly to generate a substantial increase in the\nnumber of new and expanding small bus inesses in the Kentucky workforce, to\nfoster economic growth in the business sector, and to provide high -quality jobs for\nKentuckians. The Kentucky Small Business Development Center Network, part of\nthe National Small Business Development Center Network, is encouraged to extend\nits wide range of workshops, seminars, and courses for entrepreneurs in cooperation\nwith the public and private sector. Expert instruction shall range from introductory\nclasses designed for start-up businesses to advanced presentations aimed at assisting\nestablished companies.\n(2) As used in this section:\n(a) \"Expanded staff\" means consultants to be used exclusively in the small\nbusiness development centers. All new personnel in the field shall be fully\ndedicated to consulting and tra ining, with the goal of increasing clients'\nrevenues and job creation capabilities, as well as increasing Kentucky Small\nBusiness Development Center Network market penetration by twenty -five\npercent (25%) over the two (2) year appropriation.\n(b) \"Expanded equipment\" means support for these consultants and includes\ncomputers and printers, fax machines, and copiers.\n(c) \"Expanded operation\" means support for new personnel and includes office\nfurniture, phone and fax expenses, and travel costs for consultants.\n(d) \"Expanded professional development\" means the training to ensure that\nKentucky small business development center consultants have up -to-date\nknowledge and information to positively impact new and existing small\nbusinesses.\n(3) Expanded staff, expanded  equipment, expanded operation, and expanded\nprofessional development shall be used to assist the Kentucky Small Business\nDevelopment Center Network to increase entrepreneurial training and consulting\nservices, with the goal of increasing the center's impact upon Kentucky's economy.\n(4) Entrepreneurial training topics include, but are not limited to:\n(a) Starting a business;\n(b) Business plan preparation;\n(c) Marketing, including advertising and public relations;\n(d) Financial analysis;\n(e) Tax regulation;\n(f) Human resource management;\n(g) Capital management;\n(h) Global readiness;\n(i) Marketing plan preparation;\n(j) Young entrepreneurship;\n(k) Target market analysis;\n(l) Quality management; and\n(m) Production management.\n(5) The Kentucky Small Business Development Center Network may solicit, accept,\nreceive, invest, and expend moneys from any public or private source for the\npurpose of implementing this section.\n(6) The Kentucky Small Business Development Center Network's cent ral office shall\npresent a written report to the Legislative Research Commission in November 1998,\nsetting out its progress towards achieving the goals set out in subsection (1) of this\nsection.","path":[],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=41648","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:50:51Z","sha256":"4a3b9b6aeeb4116a9ca21c903da7acab9726a2c3786aee2f874804e27809e814","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-154.1-745","next":"us-ky/krs-154.10-010"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
