{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-154.12-274","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 154.12-274","heading":"Legislative intent -- Requirement  that cabinet  support","body":"modernization,  increase, and  improvement  in the Commonwealth's\nproduction process -- Cabinet to contract with Kentucky Manufacturing\nAssistance Center.\n(1) As  used in this section, \"cluster\" shall have the same  meaning as in KRS\n164.6011.\n(2) It is the intention of the General Assembly  to recognize that a strong\nmanufacturing base for the economy  of the Commonwealth  requires not only\nmodernization of the production process but also an increase in the number of\nproducts developed, so that through the creation of new  product lines,\nadditional value-added products, and  new  manufacturing methods  the\neconomy  will grow and quality job opportunities will increase. The Cabinet for\nEconomic Development shall support this intention through its authority in KRS\n154.12-050.\n(3) The  Cabinet for Economic  Development  shall enter into contracts or\nagreements with the Kentucky Manufacturing Assistance Center, a nonprofit\norganization with the mission to assist Kentucky small and medium-size\nmanufacturers to become  more competitive in the global marketplace. The\ncontracts or agreements shall require the Kentucky Manufacturing Assistance\nCenter to undertake the following activities:\n(a) Negotiate contractual agreements with existing manufacturers to deliver\nmodernization services that are likely to lead to the creation of new\nproduct lines, additional value-added products, and new manufacturing\nmethods;\n(b) Deliver engineering, technical, and business improvement services in\nKentucky  manufacturing facilities, through the network of Kentucky\nTechnology Service locations in the state, that lead to the development of\nnew  product  lines, additional value-added  products, and  new\nmanufacturing methods;\n(c) Coordinate  services for and  support the  activities of Kentucky\nmanufacturers that need  additional projects, activities, and expertise\nbeyond  those available through the Kentucky Manufacturing Assistance\nCenter;\n(d) Promote,  along  with other economic  development  entities, the\ndevelopment of supplier chains, the linkages among  suppliers, and the\ngrowth of clusters within the Commonwealth; and\n(e) Provide to the Cabinet for Economic  Development  a report of the\nadvances made in the manufacturing modernization projects initiated.","path":[],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=46297","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:50:52Z","sha256":"3a46958370680f6b682caf74c0ee4a073138c9c5f24abb7b5bf6d3a96f59defc","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-154.12-272","next":"us-ky/krs-154.12-275"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
