{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-154.20-400","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 154.20-400","heading":"Definitions for KRS 154.20-400 to 154.20-420.","body":"As used in KRS 154.20-400 to 154.20-420:\n(1) \"Alternative fuels\" means:\n(a) Alternative transportation fuels as defined in KRS 152.715;\n(b) Synthetic natural gas as defined in KRS 152.715;\n(c) Biodiesel produced from biomass resources as defined in KRS 152 .715 that is\nused for purposes other than transportation fuel;\n(d) Ethanol as defined in KRS 141.422;\n(e) Cellulosic ethanol as defined in KRS 141.422; and\n(f) Any other fuel that is produced from a renewable or sustainable source;\n(2) \"Eligible company\" m eans any corporation, limited liability company, partnership,\nlimited partnership, sole proprietorship, business trust, person, group, city, county,\ncharter county, consolidated local government, urban-county government, or unified\nlocal government entity,  or other entity engaged in research and development and\ncommercialization related to, or the production of, alternative fuels or renewable\nenergy;\n(3) \"Kentucky-based\" means a business with its principal place of business in Kentucky\nor at least fifty-one percent (51%) of its property and payroll located in Kentucky;\n(4) \"Qualified company\" means an eligible company that may be granted funding\npending final approval;\n(5) \"Renewable energy\" means electricity produced by hydropower, solar power,\nlandfill methane gas, wind power, geothermal, biomass, or other renewable sources;\nand\n(6) \"Science and technology organization\" means an independent, nonprofit quasi -\ngovernmental organization with a statewide mission and demonstrated history of\nmanaging complicated programs in the areas of entrepreneurial innovation, research\nand development, and science and technology advancement.","path":[],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=42406","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:50:54Z","sha256":"b9b05a872f78f8f1342a5f66f942bc41fec7de11c0e53d15c7caab0512391ee7","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-154.20-390","next":"us-ky/krs-154.20-405"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
