{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-154a.010","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 154A.010","heading":"Definitions for chapter.","body":"As used in this chapter, unless the context requires otherwise:\n(1) \"Amateur athletics\" means any interscholastic athletics in which the participating\nathletes are elementary or secondary school students of any public or private\ninstitution of learning; an y intercollegiate athletics in which the participating\nathletes are students of any public or private institution of higher education; or any\nathletics sponsored or regulated by the following amateur athletic associations\nincluding, but not limited to:\n(a) United States Olympic Committee;\n(b) National Collegiate Athletic Association;\n(c) National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics;\n(d) Kentucky High School Athletic Association;\n(e) Kentucky Amateur Athletics Union;\n(f) Bluegrass State Games;\n(g) Little League Baseball;\n(h) Amateur Softball Association;\n(i) Babe Ruth Leagues of Kentucky;\n(j) American Legion Baseball;\n(k) Kentucky Youth Soccer Association; or\n(l) Kentucky Special Olympics;\n(2) \"Corporation\" means the Kentucky Lottery Corporation;\n(3) \"Lottery\" means any game of chance approved by the corporation and operated\npursuant to this chapter, except for games prohibited by the General Assembly as\nprovided for in KRS 154A.063;\n(4) \"Major lottery -specific procurement\" means any gaming product or service\nincluding, but not limited to, major advertising contracts, annuity contracts, prize\npayment agreements, consulting services, personal service contracts, equipment,\ntickets, and all other products and services unique to the operation of the\ncorporation in its lottery activities, but not including materials, supplies, equipment,\nand services common to the ordinary operations of a corporation;\n(5) \"President\" means the president of the Kentucky Lottery Corporation who shall also\nserve as chief executive officer of the corporation;\n(6) (a) With respect to an individual, \"related entity\" means any spouse, child,\nbrother, sister, or parent residing as a member of the same household in the\nprincipal place of abode of the individual, and any entity with respect to which\nthe individual, or spouse, child, brother, sister, or parent of the individual has\na financial interest of five percent (5%) or more, or is an officer, director,\nemployee, or partner; and\n(b) With respect to any partnership, corporation, join t venture, or other entity,\n\"related entity\" means any officer, director, employee, partner, or owner of a\nfinancial interest of five percent (5%) or more of the total value thereof; any\nparent, subsidiary, or brother corporation; and any other entity with  which the\ngiven entity has an identity of ownership of fifty percent (50%) or more.\n(7) \"Retailer\" means any person with whom the corporation has contracted to sell\nlottery tickets to the public;\n(8) \"Security\" means the protection of information that wou ld provide an unfair\nadvantage to any individual or other entity involved or seeking involvement in the\noperation of the lottery or the supply of major lottery -specific procurement items to\nthe corporation, and the protection of:\n(a) Information that relat es to detection or deterrence of, or could assist in the\nperpetration of, crimes against the corporation or its retailers, their locations,\nor their employees; or\n(b) Information which could impair or adversely impact the ability of the\ncorporation or its retailers to protect the integrity of the lottery or protect\nlottery equipment, supplies, or proceeds;\n(9) \"Sports contest\" means any professional or amateur sport, athletic game or contest,\nor race or contest involving machines, persons, or animals, excep t horses, that is\nviewed by the public; and\n(10) \"Vendor\" means any person who has entered into a major lottery -specific\nprocurement contract with the corporation.","path":["KRS Chapter 154A"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=3007","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:50:58Z","sha256":"649cf7bef0aaa9bd8ad378ac81a5066f1fb651764bd2dc58af24573f9f93488d","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-154.99-012","next":"us-ky/krs-154a.020"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
