{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-156.040","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 156.040","heading":"Qualification of board members.","body":"(1) As used in this section, \"relative\" means father, mother, brother, sister, husband,\nwife, son, daughter, aunt, uncle, son-in-law, and daughter-in-law.\n(2) A member of the Kentucky Board of Education shall:\n(a) Be at least thirty (30) years of age;\n(b) Have at least an associate degree or its equivalent;\n(c) Have been a resident of Kentucky for at least three (3) years preceding the\nmember's appointment;\n(d) Not hold a state office requiring the constitutional oath;\n(e) Not be a member of the General Assembly;\n(f) Not hold or discharge the duties of any civil or political office, deputyship, or\nagency under the city or county of his or her residence;\n(g) Not be directly or indirectly interested in the sale to the Kentucky Board of\nEducation or the Department of Education of books, stationery, or any other\nproperty, materials, supplies, equipment, or services for which board or\ndepartment funds are expended;\n(h) Not have a relative as defined in subsection (1) of this section who is\nemployed by the Department of Education;\n(i) Not have been removed from the board for cause; and\n(j) Not be engaged as an elementary or secondary education professional\neducator.","path":["KRS Chapter 156"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=51428","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:50:59Z","sha256":"5a6a9910fde1f9b83ea11f44d6af5b4cab5770c7e953339cee185078a2958286","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-156.035","next":"us-ky/krs-156.050"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
