{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-156.148","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 156.148","heading":"Commissioner of education -- Selection -- Term -- Duties.","body":"(1) The commissioner of education shall be the chief state school officer. He or she\nshall possess the professional qualifications determined by the Kentucky Board of\nEducation as appropriate for the office.\n(2) The commissioner shall:\n(a) Be appointed or reap pointed by the Kentucky Board of Education, subject to\nSenate confirmation in accordance with KRS 11.160;\n(b) Serve for a term not to exceed four (4) years, unless removed by the Kentucky\nBoard of Education; and\n(c) Receive compensation as set by the board , the provisions of KRS 64.640\nnotwithstanding.\n(3) The commissioner of education shall be the executive and administrative officer of\nthe Kentucky Board of Education in its administration of all educational matters\nand functions placed under its management and control.
