{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-156.410","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 156.410","heading":"Standards and criteria for evaluation of instructional materials and","body":"programs -- Submissions by publishers and developers.\n(1) The chief state school officer shall prepare minimum manufacturing standards,\ndelineate content specifications in  accordance with the academic standards\nestablished in KRS 158.6453 for Kentucky schools in grades kindergarten through\ntwelve (12), and formulate other criteria for use in the evaluation of instructional\nmaterials to guide the instructional resources depo sitory established in KRS\n156.412, which shall require that all materials be suitable for use with a diverse\npopulation and be free of social, ethnic, racial, religious, age, gender, and\ngeographic bias.\n(2) The Kentucky Board of Education, upon the recomm endation of the chief state\nschool officer, shall have authority to promulgate administrative regulations in\naccordance with KRS Chapter 13A:\n(a) Pertaining to the evaluation, selection, and use of high quality instructional\nmaterials and programs on the state and local levels; and\n(b) Relating to the agents and representatives of instructional materials and\nprograms and the methods and procedures for use in adoptions on the state\nand local levels.\n(3) The instructional materials depository shall properly a dvertise the subjects for\nwhich instructional materials adoptions will be made and notify the different\npublishers and developers of instructional materials. The publishers or developers\nshall file with the depository samples of instructional materials, fi ling fees, bids and\nbonds, and other specified information relative to the instructional materials that\nthey desire to offer for adoption.\n(4) The instructional materials depository shall:\n(a) Review the bid information submitted by the publishers and developers;\n(b) Verify that the bid complies with the specifications; and\n(c) Prepare a list of instructional materials and programs, for consideration by the\ntask force, indicating those in compliance with the standards and\nspecifications and those not in compliance, detailing areas of noncompliance.","path":["KRS Chapter 156"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=56673","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:00Z","sha256":"23cb3653e65f074c006692548f1a7ceccf70994cd62aa47ff28e63a74a97b584","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-156.407","next":"us-ky/krs-156.412"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
