{"data":{"id":"us-ky/krs-156.492","jurisdiction":"us-ky","citation":"KRS 156.492","heading":"Authority to establish building and construction trade training program --","body":"Conditions.\n(1) The Kentucky Department of Education may enter into an agreement with any\nbuilding and construction trade organization to develop a training pr ogram for\nschool counselors providing services to students in the Commonwealth. The\npurpose of the training program shall be to promote building and construction\ntrades and training facilities available to students by making school counselors\naware of what is available to students participating in the building and construction\ntrade. The training program shall include information relating to:\n(a) The pay and benefits available to people who work in the building and\nconstruction trades; and\n(b) Job opportunities, pre-apprenticeships, apprenticeships, and pathways within\nthe building and construction trade industry.\n(2) The participating trade organization shall ensure ample opportunities for school\ncounselors that serve grades seven (7) through twelve (12) to  complete the training\ncreated under subsection (1) of this section annually and shall bear all costs\nassociated with the training. The participating trade organization may choose to\noffer professional development opportunities to teachers who serve studen ts in\ngrades seven (7) through twelve (12), if resources are available for this purpose.\n(3) The department shall include the training program created in this section on the\nelectronic consumer bulletin board created pursuant to KRS 156.095 if requested by\nthe training program.\n(4) A school counselor serving students in grades seven (7) through twelve (12) may\ncomplete four (4) hours of training developed under this section which shall count\ntowards the twenty -one (21) hours required annually pursuant to KR S\n156.101(4)(b).\n(5) Local boards of education or school -based decision making councils may\nincorporate this training as part of the four (4) days of professional development\nrequired pursuant to KRS 158.070(3)(a) for teachers who serve students in grades\nseven (7) through twelve (12) if offered by the participating trade organization.","path":["KRS Chapter 156"],"source_url":"https://apps.legislature.ky.gov/law/statutes/statute.aspx?id=57898","current_through":"Includes enactments through the 2026 Regular Session","vintage":"09/05/2026","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T20:51:00Z","sha256":"bf6ac09550b05a0cf561230f4f05014af350ffd718e033eb6963e5bb8dee91a3","source_id":"us-ky","stale":false,"prev":"us-ky/krs-156.490","next":"us-ky/krs-156.495"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
